Datasheet Design

Technical datasheet design that buyers can read in 30 seconds

Your product is technical. Your datasheet still has to make sense at a glance. I design product and technical datasheets for industrial brands, with spec tables that engineers trust and a layout your sales team is happy to send.

  • Single datasheets or full series
  • Print and web PDFs
  • Most jobs in 3 to 5 days

Why most datasheets get skimmed and closed

I trained as a mechanical engineer before moving into design, so I read your specs the way your buyers do. That changes what goes where on the page.

The usual problems

  • Specs buried in paragraphs instead of a table someone can scan
  • Every number given the same weight, so the four that decide the sale disappear
  • Units, decimals and naming that change from one table to the next
  • A layout that breaks as soon as the next product needs one more row

How I fix them

  • A clear order: what it is, the key numbers, then the full specification
  • Spec tables built for scanning, with consistent units and alignment
  • Key figures pulled out where a buyer sees them first
  • A reusable template, so product two, three and ten look like one family

What you get

Spec tables that hold up

Dimensions, ratings, materials and part numbers laid out so an engineer can check them quickly and trust them.

Key specs up front

The handful of numbers that decide a purchase get space on page one, not page two.

Custom icons and diagrams

Feature icons, simple technical illustrations and charts drawn to match your brand. Priced separately when needed.

A template for the range

Designing a series? You get one system that scales across every product, which is cheaper and more consistent.

Print and web PDFs

A print-ready PDF with bleed for your printer and a lighter PDF for your website and email.

InDesign source on request

Your team can update a value later without coming back to me for every small change.

Recent datasheet work

Real projects for industrial and technical brands. Previews are flattened to protect client files; clients receive full-resolution PDFs.

How it works

1

Send what you have

Specs, an old PDF, product photos, your brand guide. A rough draft is fine. If something important is missing, I tell you up front.

2

Fixed quote in 24 hours

You get a scope and a fixed price before anything starts. No hourly meter, no surprise invoice at the end.

3

Structure, then design

I sort the content into the order a buyer reads it, then build the layout in InDesign around that structure.

4

Review and deliver

Two rounds of revisions are included. You get a print-ready PDF and a web-ready PDF, with source files on request.

Pricing
From $85 per page

A single-page datasheet usually lands between $85 and $150 depending on how much is ready. Series get a lower per-product rate because they share one template. You get a fixed quote within 24 hours of sending your content. 50% to start, 50% before final files.

Questions about datasheet design

The product specs (a spreadsheet, an old datasheet or even an email is fine), product photos or renders, your logo and brand guide if you have one. If you have a competitor datasheet you like, send that too.

I design and lay out the content you provide. If your content is rough, I'll edit it so it fits the layout and reads cleanly, and that is included in the quote. I don't invent technical claims, so the specs always come from you.

Yes, a lot of my work is redesign. Send the current PDF and I'll rebuild it in a clean structure, keeping every spec. You can see a before and after on the Chargex case study.

Most one or two page datasheets take 3 to 5 working days from when the content is final. A series of datasheets on one template usually takes one to two weeks.

No. I work from written briefs, which keeps everything documented and works across time zones. Send the details and I'll come back with a plan and a fixed quote.

A print-ready PDF and a web-optimized PDF. InDesign source files and icons as SVG or EPS are available on request.
